Changelog
Changes after Summer 2026
These changes apply from Winter 2026/27.
Contact
All communication with the course team now goes through support@cacom.dev, our new ticketing system, so that we can answer quickly and keep track of what has been discussed. That includes proposals and submission notices. Please don't email individual staff members. CC the address on every email you exchange with collaborators, including the first one, and never attach patient, pseudonymized or proprietary data to a ticket. The Staff & contact page has the details and the subject line format.
Projects and proposals
A list of concrete projects is available from the start of the course on Topics & projects, the page formerly called Areas of Interest. Each listed project goes to one group and needs a proposal and our approval, but no mini-pitch. Custom topics are still welcome and still need at least one mini-pitch before the proposal. The Project Suggestions page is gone, and its pitches are now on the list. Mini-pitches can now take 3 to 10 minutes. Proposals follow a shorter template, are at most two pages long and are submitted as PDF only. A few listed projects center on building a tool; they run in full alignment with us and under closer supervision.
Class participation
A new class participation rule applies from the first class: at least one member of each group attends every class (joining online counts), gives a short update and asks us at least one question. A missed class counts against your group unless you told us beforehand in a ticket. We introduced the rule because in past semesters, strong teams that skipped classes made avoidable, irreversible mistakes, including losing clinical data.
Symposium
The symposium is now a full day with invited speakers, and there is no oral presentation any more. All one-minute videos are played back to back before the first break, with nobody introducing them, so your video has to make sense on its own; it also needs sound now. Posters hang in the corridor all day. During every break, at least one member of your team stays at your poster, and in a dedicated poster session we visit every poster and your whole team walks us through yours.
Grading
Criterion 5 of the rubric is now called "Poster, video & discussion" and grades your poster walkthrough in place of the oral presentation. Criterion 6, "Independence, initiative & professionalism", now also covers class participation and staying at your poster during symposium breaks.
Website
We rewrote the website to make the pages shorter and easier to read.
